  • Our courses are open to students across New Zealand who:

    • Have a passion for dance

    • Are currently dancing at a studio or school 

    • Meet the age or experience prerequisites for each qualification

  • Our courses are delivered online through scheduled Zoom classes, digital learning platforms, and studio-based practical components.

    Our short courses like Child Safe and First Aid are self-paced and/or blended.

  • Enrolments open 6 months prior to courses beginning. Typically in June and then again in January. We’ll announce it via email, so make sure you're on our list!

  • Yes! All our courses are delivered online, so students from anywhere in New Zealand can join β€” as long as they’re enrolled in a dance studio for their practical components.

  • Yes! Once all assessments and requirements are completed and deemed competent, students receive an Australian Nationally Recognised certificate for their qualification. Please allow at least 6-8 weeks for your Certificate to arrive via post.

  • Students have access to:

    • A dedicated trainer for weekly classes and questions

    • Ongoing email support

    • Assessment feedback

    • Progress updates for schools/parents/studio owners if required

  • Yes β€” all our qualifications are nationally recognised and compliant with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

  • No, we work with many students in our programs whose studios are not partners of Empowerdance. We will need some input from your studio to facilitate and sign off your log book, however we provide you with a letter for your studio so they are aware of the requirements in order to help you with your study. We are also more than happy to talk it through with your studio / mentor so they are comfortable.

  • You can complete the theory components of your course online and complete your practical components wherever you are currently dancing (school or studio).

  • Speak to your trainer or email us at hello@empowerdance.com.au so we can help find a solution, it is important to keep your attendance consistent but we understand that sometimes life gets busy so we will do our best to help organise a solution for you. Due to our teaching methods and the nature of group online classes, our classes are not recorded for reply or catch up.

  • Contact us on hello@empowerdance.com.au and we will work with you to come up with a personalised plan to find you a suitable class time. 

  • Our courses require you to have at least 3 years of dance experience.

  • No you don't, but we recommend at least 3 years of dance experience before undertaking a course at the Certificate III level. 

  • You will need to have some understanding of dance and have some dance experience to be able to learn and contextualise the theory of the course. We recommend having dance experience before completing this course but contact us to discuss your relevant experience. 

  • If you are interested in performing, the Dance qualification will be more relevant to you, however if you are thinking about assisting with teaching a class or are considering a career as a dance teacher then the Assistant Dance Teaching qualification will be the best fit. 

  • In some cases, you may be eligible for credit transfers for any relevant units if you have previously completed qualifications (e.g., First Aid). 

    To meet RPL requirements you need to meet very specific criteria so please give us a call or email and we will work through what is possible. 

  • In order to meet compliance requirements, students can only complete courses within their age range.

  • Our course theory is delivered in a hybrid model with

    • In person intensives

    • Zoom sessions (follow-ups)

    • Self-paced learning via our student portal

    The practical elements of our courses are completed within the students' home studios or schools.

  • Contact our team and we will send you a deposit-free enrolment form. Then your school can pay the deposit directly and you can still proceed with signing up for your course. 

  • It is recommended that you complete the course work in the allocated course times, however there can be self-pace options for some courses and students. Contact our team to discuss if your unique circumstances will allow you to self-pace. 

  • Our courses are designed to be flexible and compatible with student's school workloads. Courses at the Certificate III or IV level are manageable alongside Year 11 or 12 studies with good time management. Speak to our team or your school careers coordinator if you would like to discuss your individual circumstances. 

  • We will deliver all course content and set students up for success when it comes to the practical components of this course, but each student is responsible for:

    • Completing their required dance teaching hours

    • Arranging their own studio or school space

    • Communicating and planning with their mentor

    • Arranging their own assistant teaching and teaching opportunities within their studio

  • We offer payment plans for all of our courses and this can be arranged with you upon enrolment.

    Please note that the course deposit must be paid prior to being accepted into your course.

  • Your $500 deposit is non-refundable, however we will work with you to determine how much of the course has been completed and how much has been paid for, we will do our best to offer a refund for the remaining content. 

  • The course cost does not change depending on how you will be paying.

  • You must submit a form of photo ID such as a driver's licence, passport or student ID card. If you do not have any of these, a birth certificate will suffice. A selfie or headshot is not an approved form of ID.
