The Empowerdance Story *

Empowerdance was established in 2010 by Gabrielle Robinson, a dancer, teacher, studio owner and dance industry trailblazer with over 30 years of experience in the studio.

Wanting to empower her students with higher education and qualifications and finding a gap in the market, Gabrielle took Empowerdance through the long and complex process of becoming a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) allowing her to create assessments that she knew her students would love engaging in.

And now… BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF DANCE EDUCATORS in New Zealand

For more than a decade, Empowerdance has helped students build confidence, capability and real-world industry skills through innovative dance education programs.

After seeing the impact these programs have had on aspiring dance teachers and industry professionals, we recognised the opportunity to bring this proven model to New Zealand.

Empowerdance NZ has been created to provide students with access to industry-relevant qualifications that combine practical experience, mentorship and professional development. Our programs are designed to support both aspiring dance teachers taking their first steps into the industry and current teachers wanting to strengthen their skills, knowledge and credibility.

We understand that students are already balancing dance training, school, work and life commitments. That’s why our programs have been designed with flexibility in mind, combining face-to-face intensives, Zoom learning sessions and self-paced online study through our student portal.

Behind every Empowerdance qualification is a team of experienced educators, assessors and industry professionals who are passionate about helping students grow not only as dancers, but as confident teachers, leaders and role models within their communities.

Together, we are helping raise the standard of dance education and supporting the future of the New Zealand dance industry.
